The annual fall Fruit
Sale has long been the #1 fundraising activity for many FFA chapters in
America. Each year a donation per case or box of product is contributed to the
Ohio FFA Foundation. The proceeds benefit special projects of the Ohio FFA
Foundation and support our students. On the local level, the earned funds will
allow the FFA Chapter to assist members who wish to attend our numerous FFA
activities throughout the year. Some examples include: National & State
Conventions, camps, judging competitions, leadership conferences, FFA social
events and our annual banquet. In addition, the funds earned will allow the
chapter to participate in community service projects that allow our chapter to
make monetary donations throughout the year.
This year’s fruit
sale took place October 13 through November 22. All members were encouraged to
sell at least $250 in products to help support the many activities, community
service projects and competitions that the FFA Chapter participates in. Congratulations
to the top five salesman: tie for first place Callee and Cori Aviles with a
combination of $1,742, third place Chloee Howard - $828, fourth place Jared
Bradford - $787 and Brianna Englehart came in fifth place selling $659 worth of
products. Items that were sold included a variety of citrus, apples, nuts, meat
sticks, apple cider, Buff Lo dip, barbeque sauce, fruit baskets and FFA fruit
buckets!
This year’s sale was
quite a success. Our initial goal was to sell at least $16,000. After selling additional
items after the fruit arrived, the chapter members sold a little over $17,000
worth of products. We would like to thank everyone that helped to support our
chapter during our largest fundraiser of the year.
