Mrs. Polly's Class - Seventh Grade Social Studies

Teacher and Class Information

Welcome to Mrs. Polly’s webpage! I attended the University of Akron and have a master’s degree specializing in elementary education and literacy. I am a highly qualified middle school social studies teacher. In addition to teaching 7th grade social studies, I am the MS Academic Challenge co-advisor and the Power of the Pen co-advisor. I also mentor new teachers through the Ohio Resident Educator Program. This is my 22nd year at Black River Schools.

Course Content

The seventh grade social studies curriculum is an integrated study of world history, beginning with ancient Greece and continuing through global exploration. Four social studies strands (history, government, economics and geography) are used to illustrate how historic events are shaped by geographic, social, cultural, economic and political factors. Students develop their understanding of how ideas and events from the past have shaped the world today. English Language Arts  and technology standards are reinforced in this course. Students demonstrate mastery through projects, traditional tests, research and writing.

You may contact me to sign up for Google Guardian email summaries. All assignments will be posted in Google Classroom and will be included in the weekly email summary.
