From September 27-29, five first-year members of the Black River FFA Chapter attended Ohio FFA Greenhand Camp at Camp Muskingum in Carroll County!
Members had the chance to build leadership skills, set goals for the year, and make new friends from across Ohio. They participated in activities like Adventure Valley, leadership field games, and workshops led by the Ohio FFA State Officer Team.
During free time, students enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, fishing, archery, basketball, and of course, the group favorite—9-square!

Farm Bureau Luncheon
Recently, members of the Black River FFA Chapter had the privilege of joining Leadership Medina County for its annual Ag Day, organized and sponsored by the Medina County Farm Bureau for the past 39 years!
The day began with breakfast at the Medina County Fair office, where participants learned about the fair’s long-standing role in supporting agriculture and youth programs. Next, the group toured Boyert’s Show Cattle, learning about the beef industry, raising cattle for the show ring, and how the farm’s commitment to improving genetics has contributed to advancements in the Charolais breed.
At Boyert’s Greenhouse, Mike and Patty Boyert welcomed everyone for a greenhouse tour and a delicious, locally sourced lunch featuring products from farms and businesses throughout Medina County. Our FFA members helped prepare and serve the meal while sharing how FFA has shaped their leadership skills and passion for agriculture.
A special thank-you to the Boyerts for their warm hospitality and continued generosity toward Medina County’s FFA and 4-H youth. Their support makes a lasting difference!
After lunch, we visited Geig’s Orchard, where we learned about the apples, stone fruits, and grapes they grow. This popular fall agritourism destination also treated us to a favorite seasonal refreshment—apple cider slushies!
Our final stop was Rupp-Dale Farms, a fifth-generation dairy farm that recently modernized its operation with a carousel-style milking parlor. Participants saw how this investment brings innovation and greater efficiency to the farm’s daily milking process. 🐄

We have been fortunate enough to purchase new classroom chairs, and now have the opportunity to get rid of well used chairs that were previously donated to us. These will be stacked behind the high school through tomorrow afternoon for any community member who would like to pick a few up.

BRMS had three teams compete at Lake today. Team "Tactical Meltdown" won the Energy Award. Congrats to our Robotics teams!
