We would like to give a huge thank you to Amp-Tech Welding Company and the White Family for taking time out of their busy schedule to provide an incredible job-shadowing experience for Black River High School senior Elise Kocab!
Elise had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours learning about welding and metalworking and, even better, she was able to actually try welding and get hands-on experience!
Experiences like this can make a tremendous difference for a young person who is trying to figure out what they would like to do after high school. Getting out into the community, talking with people who work in different careers, and actually experiencing the work firsthand can help students better understand their interests, strengths, and future possibilities.
At Black River, our Work Study Program is having each student complete a job-shadowing experience during every grading period. Our goal is to give students more opportunities to explore different careers, gain real-world experience, and gather the information they need to be better prepared and more informed when they graduate.
We truly appreciate businesses like Amp-Tech Welding Company that are willing to invest their time and knowledge in our students. Your willingness to open your doors and share what you do can have a lasting impact on a young person's future.
Are you a local business or individual who would be willing to provide a job-shadowing opportunity for a Black River student?
We would love to hear from you!
Jeremy Bradford, Black River High School Transition Coordinator
Thank you again to Amp-Tech Welding Company and the White Family for supporting Black River students and helping Elise explore a potential career!
