On Saturday, three Black River students traveled to Kent State University to compete in the Regional Power of the Pen Tournament. 7th graders Ezra Bloomfield and Riley Meffley, along with 8th grader Lillian Cyrus, all qualified to advance to the Regional Tournament based upon their performance at Districts. Riley Meffley received two outstanding awards at the tournament. First, she received a Best of Round award, where one of her stories was judged against all of that round's stories and was deemed to be the best. Secondly, she took first place of all the 7th graders who competed with perfect scores of 1 on every story she wrote that day. Congratulations to all three writers on making it to the Regional Tournament and for doing so well! They truly made Black River proud on Saturday!
