Students in grades 9–11 followed an adjusted schedule today so they could participate in sessions focused on their graduation pathway. Students met with Mrs. Strader to talk through course scheduling, completed SchooLinks activities, and explored elective options for next year. This marks the first step in the course selection process for the 2026-2027 school year.

"It is a high honor to have not only one, but two state executive council members representing Black River High School this year, and I am proud of their involvement, leadership and hard work they are putting forth for not only Black River, but Ohio FCCLA members as well," said FCCLA Adviser Jenny Demczyk.

On Saturday, December 13 Black River FCCLA members helped lay wreaths on veterans graves at Southview Cemetery in Sullivan. Students helped Sue Runals, President of the Wellington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6941 for this event. Sue raised funds to purchase 230 wreaths from the national Wreaths Across America program. Every veteran's grave received a wreath this year. Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization that coordinates volunteers to place wreaths on veterans' graves at Arlington National Cemetery and other locations nationwide and abroad, to remember fallen heroes, honor those who serve, and teach the next generation about freedom.

Honoring Our Heroes
The Black River FFA Chapter was proud to help make the FCCLA’s Veterans Day Assembly extra special this year by providing beautiful boutonnieres and corsages for our honored veterans and their guests.

A special thank you goes out to Macey Davis from The Potted Sage in Spencer for generously volunteering her time to guide our students through the process. Macey provided an incredible hands-on floral design lesson, allowing students to create each piece with care and appreciation for those who have served our country.
